In Astrology we call PLANETS all the celestial bodies of the Solar System including the Moon and the Sun. Although the astronomers, sons of Astrology?s daughter, often mix up the notions, as they did last year demoting Pluto, their actions do not affect Astrology. The point of reference for Astrology is a human being living on Earth, thus it utilizes a geocentric model, with the Earth as a navel around which the Universe revolves ;-). Similarly, the retrograde motion is also one that occurs with Earth-reference, as the planets keep on doing their thing going ?round anyway, not really pausing, stopping or otherwise changing course. There are also quite a few asteroids and astronomical/mathematical points used by some more or less cuckoo astrology schools. As far as we?re concerned the primary school level of knowledge on the Solar System will do.
Fast moving planets:
SU - Sun
MO - Moon
ME - Mercury
VE - Venus
MA ? Mars
Slow moving planets:
JU - Jupiter
SA - Saturn
UR - Uranus
NE - Neptune
PL ? Pluto
To this we need to add the notion of the Moon?s Nodes, which will be marked in the blog as NO (Node).
ASPECTS (angles between the planets):
Conjunction - 0 degrees ? the strongest aspect ? energy concentration ? depending on the planets it is either harmonious or not.
Harmonious:
Sextile - 60 degrees
Trine - 120 degrees
Quincunx - 150 degrees (though the harmoniousness of it is rather problematic)
Inharmonious:
Square - 90 degrees
Opposition - 180 degrees
